It has been two years since the last Nordic Copyright Symposium, and much has changed in the field of copyright since then — especially with the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
Across the Nordic countries, implementation of the DSM Directive has progressed, and the rise of AI technologies such as ChatGPT, DALL·E 2, and AIVA has brought both exciting opportunities and complex legal challenges. These tools can generate convincing text, images, and music based on users’ linguistic prompts — but they also raise fundamental questions about authorship, ownership, and copyright protection.
